Prepare breakfast at Young Adult Shelter
Members of ULC serve breakfast as a team every Saturday morning at this Young Adult Shelter (ROOTS) in the University District for up to 45 individuals (2 hours).
Spend the night at Young Adult Shelter
Individuals can volunteer to stay overnight at the ROOTS Shelter and take a 2-hour shift being awake in order to monitor up to 45 young adults.
Serve lunch at Central Lutheran Church
During the month of November, members of ULC serve lunch every Friday at Central Lutheran Church on Capitol Hill for 200+ homeless and impoverished people.
Attend Faith Advocacy Day in Olympia
Members of ULC travel together to Olympia for a day to advocate on behalf of impoverished, oppressed, and marginalized people in the state with our state legislators.
Make quilts for Lutheran World Relief
Members of ULC spend the entire year making quilts at church (Sunday morning & Friday afternoon) to send to places around the globe through Lutheran World Relief.
Volunteer at Elizabeth Gregory Home
Members of ULC may serve on the Board of EGH, serve on a committee of EGH, or volunteer directly with the homeless women at the EGH Day Center located at ULC.
Volunteer at Sanctuary Arts Center
Members of ULC who are interested in art may volunteer to assist homeless young adults in their artistic endeavors (drawing, painting, sculpting, potting, silk screening, etc.).
Participate in “Care of the Earth” ministry
Members of ULC connect with Earth Ministry to incorporate ecological ideas at church and within the congregation.
March in the Pride Parade
Members of ULC participate with many other Lutheran congregations in the region and march in the annual Seattle Pride Parade along with over 200 groups and organizations.
Prepare a meal for ULu Women’s Shelter
Members of ULC may prepare and deliver an evening meal to the 10 – 15 women who occupy the basement of ULC every night of the year.
Serve as liaison to Teen Feed at ULC
Members of ULC may serve as a liaison between the congregation and Teen Feed in welcoming the homeless young adults for supper on Monday or Friday year round.
Organize a meal team for Teen Feed
ULC is looking for someone to organize a meal team to serve once a month at ULC on Monday or Friday evening.
Serve a meal at Lutheran Campus Ministry
Members of ULC occasionally prepare and serve supper on Wednesday evening to the students at Covenant House, located 5 blocks from ULC.
Coordinate advocacy ministry
As an Advocating Congregation with Faith Action Network, ULC regularly presents issues that members of the congregation will address through letter writing and emails.
